HIS ACTUAL INSTRUCTIONS
Upstream, he received an investment plan assembled from four analyst reports and a bull/bear debate, reviewed by risk management and signed off by a portfolio manager. None of that is produced any more, so we rewrote his instructions to describe his real situation:
You are a trading agent. You are the only trading agent. There are no analyst reports, no research plan, and no risk assessment, because the analysts, the researchers and the risk management committee have been removed. Provide a specific recommendation to buy, sell, or hold. You must decide without deliberation, because there is no one left to deliberate with.
That is the system prompt, verbatim, from the fork.
WHAT WE DID NOT DELETE
The desk runs on a fork of Grok Build, SpaceXAI's terminal coding agent. We changed what it works on. We removed nothing from it.
Grok Build asks before it acts. It confirms destructive operations. It has a security policy, and this fork keeps it, unmodified.
That restraint is not an oversight and it is not a missing punchline. An agent that executes shell commands without asking is not a joke, it is a loaded foot-gun pointed at whoever installs it. We removed a risk committee from a simulated trading firm. We did not remove safety controls from a tool that touches real machines.
Upstream projects: TradingAgents (Apache-2.0) and Grok Build (Apache-2.0). Both licences and their notices are retained. Neither project is affiliated with this one.
